Fast High Current Axial Lead Diodes – HVCF Series

Dean Technology, Inc., today announced another significant addition to its line of discrete axial lead high voltage diodes, the HVCF series. Designed to offer exceptionally high current ratings for its overall size, the HVCF series has unique performance, offering ratings up to 10,000 volts and a very fast recovery time.

Dean Technology, Inc., today announced another significant addition to its line of discrete axial lead high voltage diodes, the HVCF series. Designed to offer exceptionally high current ratings for its overall size, the HVCF series has unique performance, offering ratings up to 10,000 volts and a very fast recovery time.

Initially the HVCF series is being offered in voltage ratings of 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 volts, with maximum forward current ratings up to 3 amps (operating temperature dependent). These diodes are idea for capacitor charging applications, and, when used in a dielectric oil or gas environment can replace significantly larger and costlier rectifier solutions.
“The HVCF series is a special new set of diodes,” said Pedro H. Gonzalez, Technical Product manager for the HVCA product line at Dean Technology, Inc. “We’re using oversized and specially selected leads to more efficiently remove heat, allowing the devices to operate at much higher currents. It’s a design methodology that has worked well for us in custom solutions for many years, and it’s nice to be able to bring that same solution to a standard product offering now.”
