Dean Technology, Inc., today announced the UL 1449 4th edition approval of the TPM series of thermally protected MOV modules. These suppressors have high surge current capability, provide floating remote signaling contact for fault indication, and with the UL approval are ideal for use in most applications.

About half of the TPM series was initially certified to UL 1449 3rd edition, and now the full series has been certified to the more modern and mature 4th edition that went into effect in March of 2016. This standard defines requirements related to testing, marking and construction, and helps to ensure that suppression devices include a thermal fail-safe to provide extra assurance against risk of fire or similar negative events.

“The updated approval of the TPM series not only means that DTI has some of the best, ready to ship, thermally protected suppression products, it also lays the groundwork for the next protection products in our extensive roadmap,” said Raj Maharaj, Product Manager for the CKE product line. “We work very hard to ensure we are up to date with all of our product offerings, pushing the boundaries with new suppression technology, and maintaining products that meet historic needs. The TPM series is a perfect example of that commitment.”

The TPM series are available with surge ratings from 22 through 50 kA and voltages from 150 volts up. They are all approved for UL 1449 4th edition for Type 1 and 2, and CSA for Type 2. All specifications can be found on the Dean Technology website at www.deantechnology.com. All of the TPM series parts are available immediately directly from Dean Technology, or through any approved sales partner or distributor.
